Green Moong Dal Khichdi



Ingredients:
For 5-6 portions

  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 0.5 cup of green mung
  • 3 tablespoons ghee
  • 1 tsp seeds of black mustard
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 2 pinches of asafoetida
  • 0.5 tsp turmeric
  • 0.5 tsp black salt
  • 4 cups water
Rice and mung bean are soaked overnight . I prepare this dish for lunch. I wash rice and mung bean very good.
In a frying pan warm up butter, add the cumin and mustard, sauté until they begin to crackle. Then do make asafoetida, I stir. Then add rice, mung bean, turmeric and salt, stirring for 1 minute. Next 4 cups of water, bring to a boil and stir 5 minutes with the lid open. Then cover with the lid and leave it on a small fire for 20 minutes.
